For more than 20 years, Barbarians Rugby Club has dedicated itself to introducing, nurturing, and promoting the development of youth players and their rugby skills from pre-K through high school in the Katy and Houston area.

A new name, and a new logo, but the same club. The transition to Barbarians Rugby Club reflects our evolving identity and commitment to inclusivity. As we’ve grown, we’ve welcomed more players, coaches, and families beyond the Katy area. This name change better represents our unified community and collective spirit.

The Celtic shield knot in our logo symbolizes family, unity, connection, and protection—values that resonate deeply within our club and reinforce our dedication to each other, our culture, and our community.

Our commitment to rugby excellence remains unwavering. We will continue to uphold our legacy by providing a fun and fair environment for players of all levels, while actively promoting the sport of competitive rugby locally and nationally.

The Club embraces a comprehensive rugby program designed to achieve excellence in a secure, inclusive, enjoyable, and equitable environment while advancing the sport of rugby in Texas.

Our coaches, all dedicated volunteers, are at least World Rugby Level 1 certified and complete annual SafeSport courses. Safety is the Club's top priority, and we offer age-appropriate coaching and techniques to minimize the risk of injuries.

Parents play a crucial role in the club's success, with many opportunities for families to get involved, including volunteering as coaches, team managers, or club administrators. By supporting your child’s love for rugby and attending games, families help create a strong sense of community within the Horde.

GARETH JONES (1986 – 2005)

"Gareth was a LEGEND. I

was an awkward Freshman

in 2005 and struggled to

express myself. He took me

under his wing and brought

me into the fold with the cooler,

older guys on the team. He

was the first teammate to make

me believe in myself, and he made me believe I could have a place on the Varsity team even though I was younger than everybody else."
